Location Lake Arrowhead is an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County consisting of 9,215 acres in the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. It is located just 20 miles north of San Bernardino at an elevation of approximately 5100'.
Population Approximately 12,982 full time residents occupy 4,285 homes. An additional 6,425 second homes could be used on weekends, holidays and in the summer. The permanent population is growing at a 4% growth rate and assuming this trend continues the anticipated permanent population will be approximately 20,500 in the year 2010 and 30,000 in the year 2020.
Weather Lake Arrowhead has a unique climate for Southern California with four distinct seasons that support an array of outdoor recreational activities and year-round beauty. The area receives 310 annual days of sunshine with summer temperatures generally in the 70° to 80°s. In the winter night time temperatures may dip below freezing but are usually above freezing by 9am with an average winter high in the 50°s. Economy Tourism is the primary economic generator for the area, contributing approximately $78,000,000 a year to the county and providing 600 full time and 700 part time jobs for local residents. The area is host to over 2.4 million visitors a year. It is estimated htat 50% of the employed residents commute "down the hill" daily to their jobs.

There are 400 guestrooms in hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts as well as 500 cabins and condos, which are rented on a short-term basis. The area is also popular for business conferences. Accommodation occupancy during most of the year is very high; 90% on holidays and weekends, but dips to 45% on weekdays. Summer is the most popular tourist season with winter use growing.

Mountain area recreation Swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, boating, water skiing, mountain biking, hang gliding, off-roading, fine dining, bowling, ice skating, movie theatre, astronomical society, art, jazz, classical and chamber music festivals, film festivals, snow skiing, and sledding exists throughout the mountain area.
Lake Arrowhead's private lake Lake Arrowhead has a private lake which is governed by the Arrowhead Lake Association, and is for restricted use by Arrowhead Woods property owners.

Rim of the World School District There are 5 Elementary schools, 1 Middle and 1 High school. In 1998, all Rim Schools scored above others in the County and above State averages in STAR test results. 86% of Rim teachers have Masters Degrees, three State Architectural Awards, two California Distinguished Schools, 70% attend college.
